How to get your Brazilian Passport

Hey guyyys! Today we're getting into our first step for a wanderlust soul to achieve its goal to go to as many places as we can! That's to get our passport! It's important to remind you we can travel inside Mercosul just with our Brazilian ID (RG).



I'm going to get my second passport after 4 stamps and 6 countries! My old passport was valid for 5 years, the good is news is now they're valid for 10 years! That's awesome news for us!


How do I get my passport?

In Brazil passports are issued by the Federal Police.  You can find any information you need here!
In the first place you have to meet some requirements:

  1. to be a Brazilian citizen
  2. to be in order with the electoral justice
  3. not to be wanted by the authorities or prevented of leaving the country 

Required documents:

  1. Identification document acknowledged by the Federal Police 
  2. Certificate of electoral discharge
  3. Certification of discharge with compulsory military service
  4. Last passport if you have one
  5. Certificate of naturalization as a Brazilian citizen
  6. Cpf 
  7. If you are underage you also need an authorization from your parents or guardians
  8. Issue and pay the Union gathering (GRU)

Issue and pay the Union Gathering (GRU)

After you gather all the documents from the first 7 steps. You can proceed to the passaport request online form.  At the end the GRU will be generated. After the payment compensation you will be able to schedule your appointment. You have to be there in person with all of your original documents.

How much does it cost? 

The price for Brazilian passport in 2019 is R$ 257,25. 

↠ your passaport will be ready in about 2 weeks and you have 90 days to get it after this time they will be incinerated ↞
